Most belt clips made by other manufacturers are made differently. The retention hooks, that click and hold the phone cases are usually molded plastic, part of the clip itself. Plastic itlsef flexes and serves as the spring. The part of those clips that flex, when phone is clipped in or removed fatigues and often breaks right in that spot.
In this belt clip the retention hook is a separate molded part, attached to the rest of the clip with a metal pin and uses steel spring to apply force, that holds the phone case in the clip. Because of this design the phone clips in more securely, in my opinion. The way the phone clicks in and held in clip feels softer, but with more force. At least that’s how it feels to me, as compared to few other cases with belt clips I used before, including OtterBox. For those, like me, that likes to wear our phone horizontally on our belts, it seems more secure AND its easier to remove. I can remove and put the phone back in the clip 100 times a day, and I’m not worried that clip will break after a month or two.
Also, the unlimited warranty is something else to consider.
This is my third Encased phone case after over a decade bying OtterBoxes. I’m pretty happy. As long as Encased keeps making cases with this style of belt clips, I think I’m sticking with them.
